A Shift In Perspective
Something has changed in my perspective recently, and I can’t quite say exactly what it is and/or how it occured. Maybe it has to do with being locked up and on restriction during COVID-19, for nearly all of 2020 and now for sure over 1/2 of 2021. I’ve had ample time for reflection, pondering and introspection, which has led me to a natural conclusion: The second half of my life has already started.
People who are retired talk about their 3rd acts. I hope to get that old, but as my grandmother used to say,
“Growing old is not for sissies.”

As related to the workplace, I am tryna be more patient. When I was a young whipper-snapper, I had no problem “making things happen.” As I’ve aged, being chartered with making things happen is definitely more complex than it used to be, especially the larger the company. I’ve developed a keen sense of when it’s best to just sit back and say, let’s see how this plays out. Is that professional maturity? Or have I lost my influence, cause I’ve been there, done that and am not enthused?
