In the workplace, it’s hard to know which is your most useful asset: your intellectual intelligence, or your emotional intelligence. In my experience, the proper ratio of your I/E quotient depends highly on what kind of company culture is tolerated or fostered.

Now I’m seeing SQ – your Social quotient, and AQ, your Adversity quotient coming into the conversations. It’s too much. Alphabet soup, algorhythms, measurements, metrics, resources. We’re human y’all! We’re imperfect, we’re flawed, we’re complex, we’re unique and individual and yet we’re all the same.

One of the major advantages I’ve gained in the ability to work from home during the pandemic, is being in a meeting as just a fly on the wall. I can turn off my camera and pay attention to the meeting, but no one can see my reactions, read my body language or otherwise interpret how I feel. This gives me great relief, as I spend a lot of energy tryna project an image of a cool, emotionally unaffected, wise leader. This is much easier to do if I can hula hoop (literally) through your presentation.
