Or is it vice versa?

No, I am not making dancing memes over on substack, but substack writers do have their very own vernacular. (Restacking as an example.) TikTok’s ban was rescinded after you-know-who took office. I’m not on TikTok, and, until recently when I took on a role as a social media helper for an 81 year old friend whose first memoir is being published this year, I typically don’t spend a lot of time on social media. On purpose.

But now, there’s a whole “new” wave of social media sites – BlueSky, Cameo, Truth Social, (which is just so much blowhard propaganda!) and Threads among them. I think I agree with whoever said that 50 years from now, we will look back on social media kind of like we do toward cigarettes.

Right now, I guess I am still enjoying smoking.

If you’d like to get in touch on bluesky, come say hi! https://bsky.app/profile/youngchrisgirl.bsky.social It’s the open source answer to Musk buying and gutting Twitter a few years ago. Just like he is doing to our government today.

In the sea of tiny megaphones, I’ve got a lot to say. Don’t we all?

My very own sketchplanation of social media these days. And many thanks to https://www.flickr.com/photos/pagedooley/ for the cover image of Smoking and drinking, 1941, Angela Weir.
